Last January 24, Republic Cement held the inaugural Republic Safety Excellence Awards (RSEA) ceremony at Grand Hyatt Manila to recognize the outstanding efforts and achievements in safety across our operations.

RSEA celebrates employees and contractors who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and dedication to safety, acknowledging their significant contributions to sustaining Republic’s safety culture. After deliberation over nominees from all plant sites, 10 individuals were chosen for the RSEA across 5 categories.   

Pablo is a Hauler Driver from Koinonia Logistics and Sales Inc., reporting for work in our Teresa Plant. As a Finalist for the Driver of the Year Award 2024 as well as the Safest Driver of the Year Award 2024, he consistently demonstrates exemplary safe behaviour as well as regularly attends Safety Toolbox Meetings and conducts risks assessment on the delivery sites.

Deniel is a Project Manager in OneBUL Line 1, a plant contractor from DELTA EARTHMOVING, INC. Competently spearheading the consistent conduct of Daily Safety Sharing sessions to ensure safety practices for all personnel, he possesses leadership skills that encourage his team members to continuously improve in their safety performance.

Jaime is a plant contractor from DELTA EARTHMOVING, INC., described as one of the best safety officers in our Iligan Plant. Aside from initiating and supporting various trainings, emergency drills and awareness programs, he also has a knack for communicating safety rules and knowledge in a way that his colleagues can easily understand. His initiative, UN-ANNOUNCED FIRST AID DRILL, helped assess the preparedness, response, and capabilities not just the DEI emergency respondents but also the RCMI clinic and our safety and security teams.

Clifford is the Health & Safety Manager from Danao Plant who has been with Republic for a decade. Having achieved World Class Safety Culture on the survey conducted by CRH on 2023, as well as improving on Danao Plant's Energy Isolation Standard, he has contributed a lot in enhancing and sustaining safety excellence among his colleagues.

Daryl is a Maintenance Manager from Danao Plant who has been with Republic for 13 years. He has been consistently emphasizing and prioritizing safety among colleagues, ensuring that each and every one treats every high risk issue as soon as possible, not waiting for tomorrow. He firmly stands by the safety culture and inspires employees and contractors who work with him to also take safety by heart.

Jerome is a Dispatch Coordinator from OneBUL Line 1. Known among his colleagues as a safety champion, he consistently delivers his safety engagement targets and never fails to intervene whenever he notices safety issues. He also went above and beyond his normal duty when he found a solution to counter the risk of human behavior when it comes to AP access control.

Jonathan is a Shift Manager from OneBUL Line 2, who's been working with Republic Cement for 22 years! He has been consistenyly demonstrating outstanding commitment to safety, leaving significant impact at work. He proactively identified and addressed safety risks as well as enhance structural integrity through plant-wide removal of build-up. His many contributions has allowed for a safer, healthier work environment.

He has also been consistently doing safety engagements and transport safety checks.

Through RSEA, we uphold our safety performance standard, and we encourage everyone to not only meet it but surpass it so that we may continue to build a safer, stronger Republic for all.
