Republic Cement is Awarded Investors in People Silver Level Accreditation

Over 20 companies gathered at the SMX Convention Center in SM Aura to witness the awarding of key companies in the Investors in People Awarding Ceremony.

During said event, the Investors in People Silver level accreditation was awarded to Republic Cement, a leading local cement manufacturing and distribution company in the Philippines. It is backed by the global expertise of CRH, a leading global diversified building materials group and a Fortune 500 company, and Aboitiz, a diversified Filipino business conglomerate recognized as one of the best-managed companies in Asia. “Silver Level” was the highest conferred award during the ceremony.

“Republic Cement is a vibrant organization, positioning itself to be the leader in the industry, and developing its leadership and management practices in accordance with global standards,” shares Investors in People Chairperson Janet P. Webster.

Investors in People is a standard for People Management, founded on the belief that good people, together with excellent leadership and management, make a great business. Organizations that meet the international Investors in People Standard reflect the very best in people management excellence.

“We are happy to have achieved Silver Level accreditation. This attests to our commitment to become the best managed building materials company in the Philippines,” said Republic Cement Services, Inc. Vice President for Manufacturing Martin Wills.

To achieve accreditation, organizations are assessed against themes and indicators, leading to an award level of standard, bronze, silver, gold or platinum, representing the level of performance achieved. Assessment is carried out using surveys, interviews, meetings and observations. During its assessment, Republic Cement scores outperformed the average scores of manufacturing companies globally in every indicator.

“We concluded that while Republic Cement focuses on ensuring that capacity expansion activities are well and safely executed,” said Ms. Webster, “the company still continues to prioritize community, environment and social responsibility.”

“The Republic philosophy on learning and innovation has given birth to many solutions formulated in-house and based on sharing our experiences from both young and more seasoned employees. I may have the honor to stand here today, but I am merely the cheerleader of our many team members who made this happen.” – Martin Wills

Other highlights of the event were featured speakers from the awardees with topics under the theme “Building Innovation through Risk-taking,” Martin talked about balancing courage with risk, by giving employees room to innovate and learn from their mistakes.
