Lusog Tibay Safe Motherhood Caravan held across all our sites

According to reports from World Health Organization, 839 women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth every day.

This this in mind, Republic Cement, in partnership with Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), aims to contribute to the reduction of maternal and infant mortality in the Philippines by educating women of reproductive age about life-saving maternal, newborn, and child health practices.

Over 1000 women, pregnant or of child-bearing age, flocked to attend “Lusog Tibay Safe Motherhood Caravan” in their respective communities in Bulacan, Rizal, Batangas, Danao, and Iligan.

The nationwide caravan, organized in partnership with Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), tackled topics on prenatal/postnatal care, responsible parenthood, danger signs of pregnancy, self-care and nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, and information on PHILHEALTH among other topics. Aside from that, in collaboration with the local barangay health services, free prenatal consultation, immunization, HIV testing, and other medical services were provided.

In order to sustain the program, there will also be a Training of Trainers that will capacitate community health workers to conduct small group discussion on family health and family planning within their communities. With this, we hope to improve health outcomes for community members believing that stronger women and kids lead to a stronger Republic.
