People from all walks of life suffer from oral diseases, even if many of them can be prevented. However, cases of dental caries, a chronic oral disease most prevalent in children, has been on the rise. This is why it is never too early to start on good oral hygiene habits.
Give Kids A Smile, an Oral Health Month Program of Republic Cement Danao Plant, aims to raise awareness among school children on the importance of good oral health. Employee volunteers spent a day with the kindergarten students of Dunggoan Elementary school to teach them how to properly brush their teeth and rinse their mouths. They emphasized the need for the kids to start on good oral hygiene habits as early as now.
Aside from lectures on oral hygiene, the students also had fun with coloring activities, competing for the award for “Best Coloring.” After the program, students were given oral and personal hygiene kits to further encourage them to take care of their teeth. At the end of the day, 120 kits were given away.
“Great teeth and fresh breath give you an extra boost of confidence to face the world,” Danao Plant Community Relations Officer Aea Mae de Leon said. “These kids are already happy and they give such great smiles. How much more with healthy teeth and gums?”
