Republic Cement recently hosted the first Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Forum in Region IV-A, Batangas, gathering over a hundred participants representing MGB, the provincial and local governments of Taysan, Batangas, the academe, and other stakeholders within Republic’s host community.

Held at the company’s Batangas plant, the forum was intended to educate the various sectors with respect to policies governing mining, as well as best practices promoting responsible mining.

“Indeed, Republic Cement is among our mining companies that truly adhere to the principles of Responsible Mining, especially on environmental concerns,” said MGB Regional Director Socorro Hernandez.

Republic presenters showcased the company’s best practices in operations, sustainability, Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) implementation, as well as corporate social responsibility. Furthermore, participants also went through a guided tour of the plant.

“You have our heartfelt commitment to continue uplifting our local communities. We need your support and leadership to address key local and national challenges, so that we may optimize our existing operations, invest in the future, and ultimately contribute towards building a stronger Republic,” shared Renato Sunico, President, Republic Cement & Building Materials, Inc.
